AI tutors shrink “seat time” at Alpha School
Alpha School’s Austin-based microschool model uses adaptive AI tutors to cover core math, reading, and science in about two hours each morning. The software continually gauges mastery, reteaches weak spots, and lets faster learners advance. Freed afternoons are spent on mixed-age, project-based work that builds collaboration and real-world skills while teachers act as coaches rather than lecturers. The Hunt Institute’s June 11 feature notes policy implications—equitable device access, teacher AI-literacy training, and bias audits—so that personalization doesn’t widen achievement gaps.
